Tajikistan Population History

Bukharan Jews resided in this area from the 2nd century. Currently, there are none. In 1979, there were about 39,000 German people within the country. Currently, they are almost zero due to the collapse of the Soviet Union. About 1 million people are in Russia who are Tajiks. In 1822, 4.3 million Tajiks population were there, which soared to a yearly rate of below 1 percent by 1930s. By the 1930s-40s, there is a decline in the population of Tajikistan at the rate of minus 1 percent. During the 1960s-70s, the population decrease significantly fell because of emigration.

Tajikistan Demographics

The majority of the Tajikistan people are Persian speaking, which is about 79.9 percent. There are Russians to around 1 percent, and Uzbeks to around 15.3 percent are considered to be large in population. Ethnic Russians or the Pamiris of Badakhshan are a section of Tajiks.

Tajik is the official language of Tajikistan. Russian is another frequently used language. Tajikistan has a higher literacy rate and also a high rate of poverty.

Tajikistan Religion and Politics

The Islamic people are hugely Islamic, which comes to about 96 percent, as in the 7th century, the Arabs bought this religion into this country. 5.6 percent of the Tajiks practice Shia, and 90.4 percent of the Tajiks are Sunni. Other religions to be practiced are Russian Orthodox, which comes to about 2.6 percent. Remaining follow other religions. 66 years is the life expectancy currently here, and 37 for every 1,000 is the rate of infant mortality.
