Senegal religion and politics
Islam is the dominant religion in Senegal. A total of 96% of the population is considered to be Muslims, either Sunni or Sufi Muslims. The presence of Islam is predominant in Senegal since the 11th century. There are no other religious groups that are followed in the country. The remaining 10% of the population is shiites Muslims, and 1% follows Ahmadiyya.
Senegal economy
The natural resources are scarce in the country. Agriculture is also vulnerable due to harsh climatic conditions, mostly heavy rainfall. The economy generates foreign currency by exporting fish, groundnuts, and services. The tourism sector also has prominence in the country’s economy.
