Liberia is located on the West Coast of Africa. The total land area of Liberia is 111,369 square kilometers. The country is known for its rainforest and an abundance of flora and fauna. Liberia has a diverse terrain. The coastal plains are sandy and replete with lagoons and swamps while there are rolling hills lying cheek and jowl with the coastal plains. The interior part of the country consists of low mountains.

Liberia is the only African country that has not been ruled by Europeans. The country was established for slaves freed from the slavery of Americans in 1821. The President is the head of the state and the government. Legislature comprises of the House of Representatives and Senate.

Liberia is one of the poorest nations in the world. The economy of the country was damaged due to civil war in the 1990s, which continued till 2003. The process of rebuilding the economy started after a democratically elected government took office in 2006. The main sector of the Liberian economy is agriculture.
