49% of Hong Kong’s population adheres to Chinese folk religions. The remaining population comprises 21.3% Buddhists, 14.2% Taoists and 11.8% Christians. 3.7% belong to other religions such as Hinduism, Sikhism, Judaism, and Islam.

Hong Kong is a Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China with a Special Executive heading the government. The political parties are divided into two camps. The Pro-Beijing camp supports the administrative control of PRC while the Pro-Democracy camp, which is the opposition, demands independence from Chinese control.
