Côte d’Ivoire is also called as the Ivory Coast. It is a country located on the South Coast of West Africa. The capital city of the place is Yamoussoukro. Abidjan is the largest and also the economically flourishing city. The county was home to many states at the time of colonization, such as the Long Empire, Gyaaman, and Baoule. It got its independence in the year 1960 by Félix Houphouët-Boigny, who was the ruler of the country till 1993.

Côte d’Ivoire religion and politics 

The country is religiously diverse. The Sunni denomination in Islam makes up a percentage of 42.9%. Christians make up 33% of the population. They are mostly catholic and evangelical. 19.1% of the people shared that they are irreligious.

The government is grouped into three branches. One is the executive power. The second is the legislative power, and the third is the judicial power. The parliament of the country consists of the senate elected indirectly. The national assembly contains 255 members. They are elected for the term of five years.

The country has a high income per capita. It plays a major role in trade with the neighboring countries. Côte d’Ivoire is the largest in the West African Economic and Monetary Union. It is the largest exporter of cocoa beans and stands fourth in the export of goods. It has close ties with France, which has assisted in the development of economic growth. The Côte d’Ivoire has grown quicker than any other African country.
