Channel Islands population: 173,339
The Channel Islands is situated on the French coast of Normandy. It contains two dependencies one is the Bailwick of Jersey, and another is the Bailwick of Guernsey. The United Kingdom is responsible for the defense of the island. It is one of the remnants of the Duchy of Normandy, although they are not considered part of the UK. The channel island is a term used for geographical use and not for the political unit. The term was used from the year 1830, probably by the royal navy as a name to mean the collection of the islands.

Channel Islands religion and politics
Although it is small in size, the population of Jersey consists of people with a diverse religious background. It is a Christian island because most of the population are Christians. The popular church is the Church of England. Catholicism and Anglicanism are followed on the island.
The politics in the Channel Islands follow the framework of representative parliamentary democracy. One of the dependencies of the crown – Jersey is a self-governing and autonomous island.
Channel Islands economy
Jersey and Guernsey are well developed economic centers. Fiduciary, funds, and insurance drive the growths in the islands. There is a large development in fruit, vegetables, and flower export. The islands are improving the horticulture industry. It is now revitalizing for novel purposes in economic development.
